The temporal parameters of the segment
What are the temporal parameters of the segment?
Temporal parameters describe the rhythmic characteristics of a melody. These are quantitative characteristics, expressed in numbers, which we can extract through observation and analysis. The following are the five parameters we use to describe the characteristics of a segment:
- Longitude (lg)is the number of pulsations contained in the segment.
- CThe quantity of P or iT (ca P / ca iT): is the chosen number of pulses or iT of the segment, whose figures always coincide.
- Cdifferentiated iT quantity (ca df iT)is the number of iTs with different numerical value contained in the segment.
- Cdifferentiated Pm quantity (ca df P)is the number of pulses with different numerical value contained in a segment with bars. Pulses can only be expressed in modular numbering.
- Sum of iT (+iT)is the sum of the iTs that have been fractionated. This parameter is only analyzed when the fractionation is continuous along the segment.

We can use the same parameters to analyze a succesion or another type of set.
